How We Help

Whether You’re Just Getting Started or are Ready to Go All In, There’s a Path for You Here

From a free resource toolkit you can start using today to full Safe Place Workplace Program implementation and accreditation, The Alliance has a program designed for where your organization is — and where it’s headed.

Build the Policies. Train Your People. Earn the Accreditation.

The Safe Place Workplace Program is the cornerstone of what The Alliance offers. It’s a structured, eight-component framework that helps employers implement training, build meaningful policies, create physical and digital safety plans, and ensure every employee impacted by domestic abuse knows where to turn for help. Whether you’re a large corporation or a small business, the program scales to meet your organization where it is, with varying levels of hands-on guidance from The Alliance team.

01

Senior Executive Pledge

A formal written commitment from your senior leadership affirming that employees experiencing domestic abuse will be believed, supported, and protected at work. The Alliance provides a customizable sample pledge letter tailored to your organization and industry.

02

Domestic Abuse Awareness Policy

A clear written policy that gives your leaders structured guidance for responding to domestic abuse disclosures protects your employees, reduces your legal risk, and establishes that survivors will be supported, not stigmatized. The Alliance provides you with a version tailored to your industry, workforce, and risk profile.

03

Training for all employees, supervisors, and HR

Role-specific training that gives all of your staff, managers, and HR professionals a shared understanding of how domestic abuse shows up at work, how to recognize warning signs, what to say, and how to respond safely and confidentially.

04

Safety Plan

A structured process for identifying and addressing both physical and digital vulnerabilities, including building access, visitor procedures, communication channels, and online harassment risks, so your organization can respond quickly and consistently when a concern arises.

05

Posters and Notices

Ready-to-use materials, curated specifically for your organization, featuring national, state, and local domestic abuse resources for display throughout your workplace(s) and on internal platforms, so employees can find help privately whenever they need it.

06

New Employee Orientation and Onboarding

A simple, adaptable curriculum ensures that domestic abuse awareness is woven into every new hire’s onboarding experience from day one. This ensures your organization’s commitment holds strong even as your workforce grows and changes.

07

Career Page Commitment

A brief public statement crafted for your organization to include on your careers page and job postings signals to job seekers that your organization has a clear policy, confidential resources, and an active commitment to a safe, stigma-free workplace.

08

Community Partnerships

Engaging with local shelters and advocacy organizations is the final element of the program.  Show your support for community fundraising and campaigns, and invite advocates to training and events in your organization.

Accreditation – A Formal Recognition of Your Commitment to End Domestic Abuse in the Workplace

Employers who fully implement all eight components and demonstrate a sustained commitment to employee safety are eligible to earn the Safe Place Workplace Program Accreditation, which includes an electronic badge to display on your website and careers page. This signals to employees, job seekers, and the broader community that your organization doesn’t just talk about safety; it has built the systems to back it up, so every employee affected by domestic abuse feels safe, supported, and believed. We are the only US organization offering this valuable accreditation program, and it’s available to Alliance members.

Why does my company need policies and protocols to address domestic abuse in the workplace?

Because the effects of domestic abuse are already in your workplace, and how your organization responds (or doesn’t) has real consequences. An estimated 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Research shows that 83% of survivors say the abuse affected their ability to do their job, and 27% of workplace violence incidents are tied to domestic abuse situations. A clear policy, trained managers, and a culture of safety don’t just support affected employees. They protect your entire organization.

Can I join The Alliance if I don’t own a company or have employees?

Absolutely! We believe everyone has a role to play in creating safer workplaces and communities, so you are welcome as an individual ally, survivor, family member, concerned community member, or professional in any field to contact us to receive our newsletter. Contact Us.

We’ve never had a domestic abuse incident at work. Do we still need this?

Because domestic abuse is so prevalent, it is highly likely that some of your current or future employees have experienced or are experiencing abuse, whether or not they have disclosed it or it has become visible at work. Proactive preparation, through policies, training, and culture‑building, means your organization is ready to respond safely and compassionately the moment someone needs support, rather than scrambling in a crisis.

How can my organization get started with The Alliance?

You can get started by contacting us to schedule an initial conversation about your workplace, current policies, and goals around safety and employee well‑being. From there, we’ll recommend a tailored pathway, such as leadership training, employee education sessions, or a full Safe Place Workplace program, to help you build a safer, more supportive workplace for everyone.

The Employers Who Lead on This Don’t Wait for a Crisis.

The organizations that lead on workplace safety don’t wait for a crisis to force the conversation. They build the policies, invest in the training, and create the culture before it’s needed. That’s what The Alliance is here to help you do.
